On Wednesday, the Baba had said he would build and train an army of 11,000 men and women to fight corruption and warned the government that the next time there was police action at a protest, his supporters would be armed and would retaliate. He did not climb down completely on Thursday, but was on the defensive when he said he was not “training terrorists or Maoists, but nationalists.”

“The words should be used in the right context…I said I will make a force who will not beat anyone but they will not get beaten either,” the yoga teacher said, adding, “what is the harm or wrong if I speak about shaurya (valour)?”

Ramdev’s provocative comment in Haridwar yesterday caused a political storm in nearby Delhi. He had said: “Twenty youth from each region will come forward for our fight against corruption. They must be dedicated, ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. They will be given arms training. Next time at Ramlila it will be Ravanlila. Let’s see who gets beaten up.” (Watch)

The government made its stand clear. “It is anti-national and we have to take action,” warned V Narayanswamy, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. (Watch) An hour later, the Home Minister weighed in. “I’ve seen Ramdev’s statement. By making that statement he’s exposed his true colours and intention. Let him do so and the law will deal with that,” P Chidambaram said.

The government has been caught in a face-off with the yoga icon since the weekend, when it ordered the police to dismantle a massive camp that the Baba had organised – it combined yoga with a sit-in against corruption. On Saturday, the Baba launched an indefinite hunger strike. Hours later, the police moved in and arrested him. The 65,000 people gathered at Ramlila Maidan were teargassed and lathi-charged.

The incident brought together activists and opposition parties who condemned the government for breaking up a peaceful demonstration.

Gandhian Anna Hazare was also on a one-day fast on Wednesday at Rajghat in the Capital to protest against the action at Ramlila Maidan, and to push the government to agree to a new corruption law that’s being drafted partly by activists led by him. Mr Hazare- the face of a campaign named India Against Corruption – declared that his movement is a “second freedom movement.” (Read: Anna’s ultimatum to the Govt) If the government doesn’t introduce the new Lokpal Bill by August 15, he warned, he will go on another fast.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush has said that ‘Rana’ could be Rajini’s last film.

“We will soon have a statement from Rajinikanth himself. The superstar (Rajini) is doing well, he is recovering very fast. He will be back in a week or 10 days,” Dhanush said.

Rajinikanth left for Singapore last week for further treatment and had been in the ICU in a Singapore hospital since Sunday.

Rajinikanth fell ill on the first day’s shooting of his new film ‘Rana’ at the end of April. After the mammoth success

of his sci-fi mega venture ‘Enthiran’ (The Robot), which is also incidentally the costliest film ever made in India, he has signed up for Rana that also stars actress Deepika Padukone.

Rajinikanth has starred in more than 175 films in a career spanning 30 years.

However, his two visits to the hospital come at a time when a projected Rs 150 crore is riding on Rana that sees Rajinikanth again in the superlative, playing three roles opposite stars half his age.

Rana cannot be shot without the superstar who plays three lead roles in the film.

He is advocating for a Bil, The Jan Lokpal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

8. It’s an entirely new thing right..?
In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?
The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.
Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the JAN LOKPAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?
A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

9. Is he alone? Who else is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?
Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more.
Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan is supporting his cause.

Declaring “justice has been done,” President Obama announced late Sunday that Usama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan, marking the end of the worldwide manhunt that began nearly a decade ago on Sept. 11, 2001.
The president made the stunning announcement within hours of informing congressional leaders. He said bin Laden was killed Sunday, the culmination of years of intelligence gathering. The news drew a large crowd to the front of the White House, as well as in Times Square, as people chanted “U-S-A. U-S-A.”
Obama, in his address to the nation shortly before midnight, thanked the Americans who have toiled in pursuit of bin Laden and applauded those who carried out the successful mission in Pakistan. Describing that mission only briefly, he said its result “is a testament to the greatness of our country.”
“For over two decades, bin Laden has been Al Qaeda’s leader and symbol,” Obama said. “The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda.”
The president traced the death of bin Laden to a tip received last August. He said he was briefed at the time on the “possible lead,” and that after months of intelligence work it was determined bin Laden was hiding in a compound “deep” inside Pakistan. Obama said, after determining the intelligence was sound, he authorized the operation to bring him to justice last week.

Usama bin Laden, the Saudi Arabian–born leader of Al Qaeda who is widely known as the most dangerous terrorist on the planet, has been killed by a team of U.S. Navy SEALS at a compound in Pakistan.

He said a “small team” of Americans went after bin Laden in Abbottabad on Sunday. “After a firefight, they killed Usama bin Laden and took custody of his body,” the president said.
Senior administration officials, in a briefing with reporters, afterward said the administration had determined by February that they would pursue the compound “custom built to hide someone of significance” in Pakistan. This decision led to a series of national security meetings starting in March to develop a course of action. Obama gave the final order to pursue the operation on April 29, officials said.
The house was 100 yards from the gate of the Kakul Military Academy, an army-run institution where top officers train. A Pakistan intelligence official said the property where bin Laden was staying was 3,000 square feet.
At 3:30 p.m. EST, a 40-man Navy Seals squadron raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, killing the Al Qaeda leader with a bullet to the head.
Four Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters dropped 24 men on the compound. One helicopter suffered a “hard landing” inside the compound after experiencing a mechanical failure and had to be destroyed on the site, according to one defense official.
There was a large shootout. The residents at the compound resisted. The total raid took 40 minutes.
No Americans were killed in the mission Sunday. Officials said three adult men other than bin Laden were killed – one was believed to be bin Laden’s son, the others couriers. One woman was killed when she was used as a human shield and two other women were also injured, the officials said.
Abbottabad resident Mohammad Haroon Rasheed said the raid happened about 1:15 a.m. local time.
“I heard a thundering sound, followed by heavy firing. Then firing suddenly stopped. Then more thundering, then a big blast,” he said. “In the morning when we went out to see what happened, some helicopter wreckage was lying in an open field.”
“Intelligence analysts concluded that this compound was custom-built to hide someone of significance,” he said.
In the wake of bin Laden’s death, authorities around the world are being urged to take security precautions. One source said officials are concerned bin Laden’s death could incite violence or terrorist acts against U.S. personnel overseas.
The State Department issued a travel alert for U.S. citizens abroad overnight, citing “the enhanced potential for anti-American violence given recent counter-terrorism activity in Pakistan.”
Obama said Americans must continue to be “vigilant.” But he said the death of the architect of the deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil should be welcomed around the world.
“Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader. He was a mass murderer of Muslims,” Obama said. “So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.”
Sources said the vice president informed congressional leaders late Sunday night that the world’s most wanted man had been killed.
Officials said bin Laden’s body, which was in U.S. custody, was given a sea burial.
The announcement comes nearly a decade after the 2001 terror attacks that triggered the Afghanistan war and started a tireless hunt for the terrorist mastermind and Al Qaeda leader.
In recent years, that hunt had increasingly led U.S. intelligence across the border and into Pakistan, where Al Qaeda is thought to be concentrated.

NRI Abhay (Sendhil Ramamurthy) has just shifted base in Mumbai but is traumatized by frequent extortion threats. Sawan (Sundeep Kishan), an aspiring cricketer, is in desperate need of big money to bribe the selection committee. Tilak (Tusshar Kapoor) is into the bootlegging business and yet honest enough to make genuine ‘copies’ of bestsellers. His friends, small-time crooks Ramesh (Nikhil Dwivedi) and Mandook (Pitobash), stumble upon a bag of arms which, directly or indirectly, changes each of their lives irreversibly.
The major problem with the film is that it takes a little too long to come to the point. The establishment of the character-conflicts is prolonged, till late in the second half. By then you are well-acquainted with their problems so the buildup just seems unnecessary, making the narrative monotonous to an extent.

Sendhil Ramamurthy’s plot seems straight out of a 90s potboiler and never goes beyond being a regular revenge drama. Sundeep Kishan’s track gets repetitive. The ethical improvement of Tusshar Kapoor driven by his half-baked romance with wife (Radhika Apte) goes completely tangent to the central plot. Lessons on Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist by his wife change his perception in life. And come to think of it, he never knew she was literate.

Having said that, the treatment to the scenes by writer-directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, still, has its moments of glory. The film has a smart and subtle sense of humour and scenes are never over-amplified through sound or edit effects, retaining the minimalistic feel. Picture a paradoxical scene over a Bandstand kinda backdrop, where a couple has a verbal spat while other pairs are indifferently indulged in casual caressing. Brilliant! Another funny scene is when Pitobash literally scares the shit out of a guy with his newly possessed gun. The bomb explosion scene, in the first half, has its hilarious and thrilling moments.
