HANSI: A 23-year-old youth died trying to do a Sholay in real life. The incident happened on Tuesday night near Kumbha village in Jind, where Harpeet, who was to get married on November 26, had stopped along with his cousin at the liquor vend.
He was trying to act as Gabbar Singh of Sholay, Hardeep’s cousin Raj Kumar told the police. “He (Hardeep) was holding a countrymade pistol and pulled the trigger everytime he said – ab tera kya hoga Kaliya. The first two shots were blank, but the third killed him on the spot,” he told the investigating officer.
Hardeep was a resident of Jawahar Nagar in Hansi and had gone to Hisar for some work along with his cousin. From there, they left for Jind to meet his future in-laws, and later stopped at a liquor vend, where tragedy struck.
Officials from Sadar Hansi police station, who reached the spot along with a forensic team, have taken possession of the firearm. Investigation officer Hansi Ram Singh said, “We have received a letter from Hardeep’s father, saying his son died accidentally. We are talking to Raj Kumar.”
