With its upcoming second factory at Manesar, in India’s Haryana state Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. plans to hire about 1,500 employees.
Managing Executive officer for human resources, S. Y. Siddiqui said “The hiring of the 1,500 workers for the new Manesar plant may extend beyond the current financial year through March”.
54.2% of Maruti is owned by Suzuki Motor Corp. It currently has one factory each at Manesar and Gurgaon in Haryana. It is now planning to build additional two in Manesar which will cost 17 billion rupees ($368.7 million) and is expected to start operations by Jan 2012. Once it’s operational, the productivity will raise by 1.25 million vehicles.
Maruti will also hire 950 additional employees current year for its existing two plants out of which 350 have already been recruited.
Mr. Siddiqui said “He said the hiring plans for the proposed third plant at Manesar will be decided only in mid-2011″
As per Maruti, the third plant will be operational by the end of 2011-12 or beginning of 2012-13 with the capacity of 250,000 vehicles.
