New Delhi: The Opposition is not yet ready to offer the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government any respite over the price rise issue in Parliament. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),

which has been disrupting Parliament proceedings for the past three days over the issue, on Thursday gave notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar for discussion on the issue under Rule 184 in the House, which also entails a vote. The Party also gave notice in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the issue under Rule 168.
Meira Kumar, however, asked the Opposition not to disrupt the House.
“Whatever is according to rules will be looked at. They can say whatever they want but why are they stalling the House,” said Meira.
Both the houses were adjourned till 12 noon after slogan shouting by Opposition MPs over the issue.
The Opposition has also planned nation-wide protests on Thursday. The BJP’s top leadership and MPs will march to the Rashtrapati Bhawan to submit a petition to President Pratibha Patil seeking a decrease in prices of essential commodities. BJP claims the petition has been signed by more than 10 crore citizens.
It is also planning to launch country-wide protests over the Centre’s alleged misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter and the arrest of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah.
Left Front and Samajwadi Party MP’s also protested against price rise outside Parliament on Thursday before the start of the day’s proceeding.
Sources say that the Left Front, AIADMK and the BJD do not want any further disruption of Parliament over the issue.
