Apparently, when the ‘Wake Up Sid’ famed director Ayan Mukherji expressed his desire to cast the RK junior with ex-flame Deepika in his forthcoming directorial venture, the actor without a second thought stepped back.

The Prem of ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ had wrapped up his love story with girlfriend, Deepika Padukone long back and it was Deepika’s sharp comments on the chat show ‘Koffee With Karan 3’, which distanced them further.

Well, now it was Ranbir’s turn to pour out and thus, he refused sharing screen space with her.

A source said, “When Ayaan told his buddy that he wanted to sign Deepika for his next opposite him, RK flatly said no.

“Apart from the fact that it would be awkward for him to work with an ex-girlfriend on the sets, her spewing venom on him on Koffee with Karan and the news reports that followed after that, had upset the actor.”

Tough time for director Ayan
Ranbir and Ayan became friends during the making of ‘Wake Up Sid’.

Unlike other B-town stars, who are reluctant to make movies with fresh directors, Ranbir teamed up with Ayan for the latter’s first directorial venture ‘Wake Up Sid’, which turned out to be a hit.

As such, director Ayan is very grateful to Ranbir till date and in order to rope in Ranbir for his next, he has to hunt for a leading lady other than Deepika, despite his eagerness to work with the hottie.

Talking about Ranbir and Deepika’s sour relationship, a source said, “There still is too much bitterness left between the estranged couple. Now, the director is in a fix.”

It’s learnt that the director wanted to zero in Deepika, as the character of the female protagonist in his next is akin to that which the actress had portrayed in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’.

However, rebuffing all the rumors director Ayan said that the script of his forthcoming flick is still under process and the cast is not yet decided.

He further added that casting will be done only when the script is ready.

Claiming all the gossips fallacious, Ayan said, “It is not true. Speculation is pointless right now because the truth is that I am still in the process of writing the script of my film.

“Only when the script is finalized, will we decide who suits the part best, and then approach that actress with an offer.”
