Sena, Cong clash at Dadar station to take credit for new train: India : India Today

Mumbai’s Dadar railway station turned into a war zone as Congress and Shiv Sena workers clashed late on Tuesday night in a bid to take credit for the beginning of a new local train.
Ahead of the flag off of the train between Dadar and Sawantwadi, the activists of both the parties gathered at the station claiming it to be their party’s achievement. While Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane led the Congress workers, the Shiv Sainiks were headed by MP Sanjay Raut.
Claiming that Congress was behind the beginning the train Rane said, “Our party did everything to start this train for Sawantwadi. Our party will provide other facilities also. Shiv Sena has not done anything but is unnecessary claiming credit for this because it has been habituated to do so.”
However, challenging Rane’s claim the Shiv Sena MP said party chief Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav were actually behind the train’s start.
“This train service is a result of efforts made by Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray. Our party workers assembled here to take credit for what our party did and we chased away Narayan Rane’s supporters,” Raut said.
The situation soon turned ugly and the police had to resort to lathicharge. Several protesters as well as police personnel were injured in the incident. Caught in the crossfire, the passengers faced difficulties.
