Surinder Kaur to lead India in women hockey World Cup

Patiala: Surinder Kaur was named as captain of the 18-member Indian squad for the women Hockey World Cup, to be held from August 29 to September 11 in Rosario, Argentina.
The list has been sent to the Sports Ministry for approval and final announcement, sources said.
The selectors including government nominees Ajit Pal Singh and Zafar Iqbal picked the players from a pool of 39 probables after trials.
Surinder Kaur had also led the Indian team at the Asian Women’s Champions Trophy at Busan, South Korea last month.
Haryana’s Rani Rampal and Jasjeet Kaur are also in the squad. The names of the other 15 members of the team could not be known.
